Refrigeration Service Support Technician

Job Purpose
The basic function of the service support technician is to support the refrigeration service department by doing routine maintenance and non-emergency repairs.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Complete supermarket condenser cleaning.
In supermarkets, install case trim and repair doors, and replace door heaters.
Replace door gaskets and Arm-A-Flex and repair drain lines.
Other Duties
Responsible for general building repairs.
Responsible for minor case and walk in repairs
Assist the refrigeration service technician in two-person jobs.
Education, Experience and Licensure
High school diploma or GED.
EPA I & II certification is required; the Universal certification is preferred.
Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities
Ability to safely operate specific equipment and tools including, but not limited to, vacuum pump, refrigerant recovery units, hand power tools, power lifts, lifting riggings, pressure and electrical regulating and testing devices.
Must exhibit an exceptional level of customer service skills and abilities in all interactions with customers.
Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
Ability to safely operate machinery, all power tools, and power equipment.
Very good understanding of mechanical physics such as force, leverage, torque, shear strength, etc.
Language Skills
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information to and respond to questions one-on-one and with groups from customers, supervisors, and other employees of the company, and the public.

Work Environment

Works most of the time outdoors or in non-environmentally controlled settings, including wet, humid conditions, extreme cold, and extreme heat, all of which are non-weather related. Outdoor conditions can range from hot roofs of 120 degrees F in the summertime to extremely cold conditions in the wintertime (-10 degrees F). Non-controlled conditions include walk-in coolers and freezers (40 degrees F to -20 degrees F) year-round. Two thirds of the time, work conditions will also include working near moving mechanical parts; risk of electrical shock; and vibration. Work conditions will also occasionally entail: work in high, precarious places; exposure to toxic or caustic chemicals; exposure to fumes or airborne particles; and working with flammables. Normal working hours for this position are from 8AM to 4:30PM, although some overtime hours on nights, weekends, and holidays are required. This position is required to wear a company uniform, company ID badge, and approved work shoes always. Job requires travel using a company vehicle, public, or private transportation on company business. The noise level typical for this position is loud.



Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
