Operational Excellence Manager

Provide leadership to drive and support a culture of continuous improvement in the plant manufacturing environment. Plan, organize, implement and support team centered continuous improvement activities. Support improvement team efforts to identify and resolve non-value added activities and develop performance improvement projects. Provide leadership for improvement team activities, utilizing root cause analysis techniques for effective problem solving to achieve corporate and plant performance objectives.

Day-to-Day Role:

  • Lead plant workforce to drive and support a culture of continuous improvement.
    • Assist in the development of a strategic performance improvement plan that supports corporate manufacturing objectives in the areas of Safety, Quality, Service and Efficiency.
    • Communicate strategic objectives and align resources throughout the plant to achieve goals.
    • Coordinate improvement activities consistent with principles of the Operational Excellence process.
  • Establish an environment that encourages employee engagement and participation with improvement teamsand daily management activities.
    • Develop and support a sustainable continuous improvement process within the plant.
    • Recruit, train and develop effective improvement team leaders. Includes root causes analysis techniques, problem solving, good meeting practices, project management, team building, etc.
    • Evaluate team leaders and provide appropriate measures to develop and strengthen team leader abilities.
    • Manage the project documentation process and project implementation from initiation to completion.
    • Identify and share best practices to support plant and corporate performance improvement.
  • Results oriented
    • Responsible to Plant Manager, and indirectly to Operational Excellence, for achieving plant and corporate performance objectives.
    • Communicate to plant management, team leaders, team members, network teams, Operational Excellence department, others as appropriate.
    • Utilize data and metrics for decision making, prioritization, improvement validation and verification.
    • Effectively manage project implementation and schedules.
  • Identify, collect, align, and integrate data and information for tracking improvement process and overall plant performance.
  • Comply with all safety policies, practices and procedures. Identify opportunities for improvements in safety performance.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Core Skills and Qualifications:

The ideal candidate must possess all of the following:

  • Bachelor's degree from four-year College or university; or three to five years Lean and/or Six Sigma experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Demonstrated success in managing people, systems and improvement efforts.
  • 1-3 years of manufacturing leadership experience or equivalent CI leadership.

Preferred Skills and Qualifications:

  • Lean / 6 Sigma Certification.
  • American Society for Quality Certified Manager of Quality/Organizational Excellence.
  • American Society for Quality Certified Quality Engineer.

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
